Claudio CortiSuperstock 1000 runner-up Claudio Corti has broken his left ankle. The rider from Como, who finished behind Xavier Simeon in this year's FIM Cup, suffered the injury while taking part in a charity event for Luca Pellegrini, the 17 year-old Italian motocross rider who was seriously injured in August.

Corti did not actually crash but banged his foot violently on the ground, and his left ankle was broken as a result. The race took place on November 22 but he hopes to be back to full fitness by mid-December.

The former Suzuki Alstare man has not yet found a ride for next season. Negotiations are still taking place with several teams, reportedly including the new BMW squad managed by Serafino Foti, which will compete in next season's FIM Superstock 1000 Cup.
